Workers World Meeting High Court Issues Voting Rights Setback Time to Fight!
The Supreme Court this week setback voting rights legislation that was won through the blood of activists during the human and civil rights movement. The Voting Rights Act, as it was before the high court's attack which weakened it, was already unable to stop all of the continuing attempts at disenfranchising especially African Americans, so this presents a tremendous challenge regarding self determination and the fight against racism. What are the tasks of the day for all progressive activists and activist organizations fighting for social justice and strength through unity? This and other questions will be discussed at the next Workers World meeting this Friday at 7 PM. Also, we'll have an update on the peoples victory in the rejection of the Defense of Marriage Act and Prop 8; the struggle for the compassionate release of political prisoner and people's lawyer Lynne Stewart and proposed national actions demanding her release.
Join the discussion and help make plans for future actions and to build a movement for real change. Where: Harriet Tubman Center for Social Justice, 5278 W Pico Blvd, Los Angeles
