8pm One night Only: FRIDAY, JULY 26 - KORDAVISION! This July 26 marks the 60th anniversary of the beginning of the Cuban Revolution. Join award-winning Kordavision director Hector Cruz Sandoval for a night at LA’s coolest screening venue, The Downtown Independent.

This documentary features world-renowned Cuban photographer, Alberto Diaz "Korda," the man who captured the iconic image of Che Guevara – the most famous photograph of the 20th Century. An insightful journey of historic proportions, the film reveals the powerful images taken by Korda, as well as his political transformation, reflecting the soul of 50's and 60's Cuba from the days of fashion and rum to the triumph of the Revolution.

In a rare moment, Sandoval reunites the giants of Cuban photography - Alberto Korda, Raúl Corrales, Liborio Noval, and Roberto Salas - with former president Fidel Castro, for the first time ever. The film documents the occasion, as these friends discuss the power of photography and its importance to Cuba's recorded history.

A sensational soundtrack represents Cuba's best music: an original score by Maestro Leo Brouwer and music by Carlos Embale, Carlos Puebla, Beny Moré, Los Zafiros, Ramón Velóz and Los Compadres. Rare original images will be on display in the lobby and DVDs will be available for purchase.

Filmmaker and native Angeleno Hector Cruz Sandoval, is the president and creative director of Sandoval Media. He will be on hand for a Meet and Greet prior to and a conversation following this inspiring film. Rare and original images will be displayed in the lobby and DVDs will be available or purchase.
