download PDF (216.0 kibibytes) Union Avenue Elementary students will be speaking in English and Spanish about the negative health and climate effects of carbon fuel combustion.

At precisely 3:50 pm the school bell will ring for 46 seconds as 350 students form the digits "350" on the school playground. The 46 second signal is to raise awareness of high carbon dioxide levels in our atmosphere, currently at 396 parts per million. Safe levels would be 350 ppm or less.

Students will congratulate and thank Los Angeles for agreeing to be coal free by 2025 but also will stress the high costs of continuing to burn fossil fuels for electricity and transportation.

There will be five bilingual student speakers who will be available for interviews after the event.
