Clara Fraser: The Original Socialist Feminist. A public celebration of this international working-class holiday will recognize the contributions of Fraser to labor, people of color and women. The daughter of Russian immigrant union activists, Fraser was born and raised in L.A.’s Boyle Heights. She graduated from UCLA and went on to train workers and students how to fight discrimination on and off the job. Speakers: Yolanda Alaniz, who collaborated with Fraser to form the Comrades of Color Caucus of the Freedom Socialist Party and Radical Women; and Samuel Solomon, professor of Critical Theory and Social Justice at Occidental College.
