Help us celebrate Phil Popham's birthday with his charming, quirky chamber music April 6th at Silverlake Lounge! The first piece, Happy Hour, has four parts, each based on a different cocktail: Paradise Cocktail, Fallen Angel, Manhattan and Highland Fling. Biggest Little Dances, performed by Helix Collective, is travelling music on a journey from Burning Man to the depths of Lake Tahoe. Finally, Mauna Kea is a picture of our universe from the lens of a telescope trained on the night sky.
Popham writes music "any audience would love to hear and any group would love to play" (American Record Guide). He is composer-in-residence at the Tahoe Chamber Music Festival and his works have been performed at the New World Symphony, International Double Reed Society and White Lake Chamber Music Festival. Also performing oboe on the concert, Popham's playing has been called "elegant and lyrical" (White Lake Beacon), "soulful," "ravishing" and "absolutely magical" (Midland Daily News).
