Celebrate Black History Month at a showing of this award winning documentary of the life of Bayard Rustin, architect of the 1963 March on Washington and often called the “the unknown hero” of the Black civil rights movement. Rustin lived as an openly gay man despite the homophobia of the 1940s, 1950s and 1960s. The film contains material from decades of FBI files that portrayed Rustin as a “dangerous subversive,” and from reminisces of his key role bringing unions into the civil rights battles of the day.
