Poet Michael Warr reads from his award-winning book of poems "The Armageddon of Funk." Called "a poetic soundtrack to Black life," the book is also being awarded this weekend. The Tia Chucha Open Mic begins at 8pm and is followed by the featured poet at 8:45pm. The Armageddon of Funk (AoF) is also published by Tia Chucha Press, the publisher of Warr's previous books "We Are All The Black Boy," and the co-edited anthology "Power Lines.".
The author is in the Los Angeles area to receive an award for The Armageddon of Funk F at the American Library Association Annual Conference & Exhibition. Along with other poets and writers he will be honored at the Black Caucus of the American Library Association Literary Awards. That reading is open to the public and takes place Sunday, June 24, 8:30pm-10pm at EMB-Landmark Ballroom Salon B, Embassy Suites Anaheim – South, 11767 Harbor Boulevard, Garden Grove, California (Tel: 1-714-539-3300).
