We are Occupy Simi, and we stand in solidarity with the Occupy Movement!
The Occupy movement's main goal is to end corporate greed in America.
... WHAT WE STAND FOR ON THE LOCAL LEVEL:
-Providing more supportive aid to the economically disadvantaged in Simi. Over 10% of Simi Valley lives under the poverty line, and through more supportive housing as well as programs better fit to teach people to not fall into the trap of unfair loan practices, we can further progress as a people that truly cares about the least among us, rather than leaving these very same people behind even as the wave of recession begins to fade off economically from the city.
-Putting an end to foreclosures. Banks, not homeowners, should be held accountable for unfair lending practices. As of October 2011, there are over 1,083 foreclosed homes in Simi, and a startling increase in foreclosures itself are beginning to be seen in the 93063 area code of Simi Valley. We as a group committed to the general welfare of the people (as spoken in the constitution), demand that banks work more with the people that are in danger of foreclosure. These are people, not simply items of monetary gain.
