Education and Social Services in California are headed towards steeper cuts! Gov. Jerry Brown has adopted a new budget for the 2011-2012 fiscal year that will drastically reduce funding for healthcare, schooling and other public services needed by low-income families. For example, the CSU and UC budgets alone have each been slashed by 0 million dollars, leading to tuition hikes and enrollment reductions. And Brown has pledged even more austerity if the economy worsens.
Reversing these attacks will require building a broad-based coalition of all affected communities. We demand higher taxes on corporations and the rich to fund education and needed services, and call for an end to the corporate bailouts and mindless wars.
Come join the fight! Your ideas and participation are needed to build a movement strong enough and broad enough to reverse the cuts and save our badly-needed public services.
