Jeffrey Haas, author of The Assassination of Fred Hampton: How the FBI and the Chicago Police Murdered a Black Panther. Fred Hampton was the Chairman of the Illinois Chapter of the Black Panther Party when he was assassinated December 4, 1969. Jeffrey talks about the thirteen-year legal struggle to uncover the conspiracy to murder Fred Hampton, and its significance today. Afro-Latin Musician John Santos will talk about his new album, "Filosof?a Caribe?a Vol. 1," and his current work with the John Santos Sextet. Filosof?a Caribe?a is a cross-disciplinary performance/ project (original music, spoken word, choreography) born of Afro-Latino presence, identity, and the marvelous, undeniable, and unheralded historical connections between Black and Latino communities. "Filosof?a Caribe?a Vol. 1" is the first of a series of albums inspired by that project.
