The Orange County chapter Of Americans United for Separation of Church and State March meeting features Judge Jim Gray. He will be speaking on: "Separation of Church & State: The Most Important War and Peace Issue of the 21st Century." He has noted that some consider this a controversial topic because they see it as an attack on religion. In response he says: ?I simply do not agree with that assessment. I view this separation as being one of the most important war-and-peace issues of the 21st century. Of course there will be some exceptions, but in general governments that maintain the separation of church and state will be far less likely to be involved in war than those that do not. For example, we all should be concerned today about the governments of Pakistan, Iran, Afghanistan and others where religion plays a large part in the affairs of government.? Given the events of recent weeks this will be very timely.

Doors open at 1:30 for snacks and socializing and seating will be on a first-come, first-seated basis.

Judge Gray received his law degree from USC in 1971 prior to which he served in the Peace Corps in Costa Rica. Judge Gray was elevated to the Orange County Superior Court in July 1989. In 1995 he received the ?Judge of the Year? award from the Orange County Constitutional Rights Foundation. He is a prolific author and his most recent book is ?A Voter?s Handbook: Effective Solutions to America?s Problems? and will be available for sale at the meeting. Judge Gray also writes a weekly column for the Daily Pilot on issues of our day called ?It?s A Gray Area.?
