Join the Party for Socialism and Liberation on Friday, Jan. 16th, for a Public Forum. There will be political talks, discussion and opportunities for action. Join the working-class struggle today!
Honoring Dr. King's Legacy: This Friday, we will celebrate the birth of Martin Luther King Jr. Politicians and the media will celebrate his "I have a dream" speech while never mentioning his staunch opposition to the Vietnam War or his efforts to organize sanitation workers. Dr. King called for “radical changes in the structure of our society” to redistribute wealth and power. Join us for a discussion on:
* The pro-worker legacy of MLK Jr. * The struggle against war and racism today * What we can do to fight back
Lessons of the Georgia prisoners' strike: Almost 40 years after the Attica prison strikes, U.S. prisoners are still fighting for basic human rights and experiencing violent repercussions. On Dec. 9, prisoners in six correctional facilities across Georgia began a coordinated strike, refusing to report to work. Join us for a discussion about:
* The demands made by the prisoners * The role of mass incarceration of working-class people in a capitalist economy * The importance of solidarity with our incarcerated sisters and brothers
Justice for Jeremy Marks: Hear from special guest speaker Rochelle Pitman, mother of Jeremy Marks, an African American teen who was falsely imprisoned for 9 months and is currently facing 3 years in jail for "attempted lynching." Marks did nothing but film a police officer beating another teen with his cell phone camera. Jeremy's mother, Rochelle, will join us to share her son's story.
