Raymond Lotta is a revolutionary intellectual who takes as his foundation Bob Avakian's new synthesis of communism. Lotta has written and lectured extensively on the experience of communist revolution in the Soviet Union when it was socialist (1917-1956) and China when it was socialist (1949-1976). He has done major work on political economy, including America in Decline (Banner Press, 1984) and ongoing analyses in Revolution newspaper of global economic developments. Lotta has been interviewed by Agence France Presse about the current global financial crisis and has appeared on BBC and Pacifica radio. In recent talks, Lotta has been addressing what he calls "socialist sustainable development" and why only socialism can enable humanity to meet the challenges of the planetary environmental crisis.
