What: Teach-In on the Afghanistan War at LACC: Renewing the Anti-War Struggle
When: Saturday, Oct. 17, 2pm
Where: Los Angeles City College, Chemistry Building, Room 3. LACC's address is 855 N. Vermont Ave, Los Angeles. The Chemistry Building is located on Willow Brook Ave, just north of Vermont. It's a 2 minute walk from the Metro Red Line Vermont/Santa Monica stop.
Who: Veterans, community organizers, activists, experts, students, educators and others will lead the event, initiated by the ANSWER Coalition. Speakers will include Ron Kovic, Vietnam War veteran; Blase Bonpane, Office of the Americas; Muna Coobtee, National Council of Arab Americans; Richard Becker, ANSWER Coalition's Western Regional Director; Hamid Khan, South Asian Network; and many others.
Why: The Afghanistan War Teach-In will aim to deepen our collective knowledge on the war. The speakers and the audience participants will discuss the war, its costs, why the U.S. must get out now, and how that can happen. There will be a focus on building a new, resurgent anti-war/peace movement that can challenge the Pentagon and end the war.
