MORE In FENCES, Troy Maxson has had to be strong and hard to survive the pressures of being a black man in America but this new era has made him a stranger to the changing world and his wife and son. A man of full-bodied emotion, he spins yarns, preaches his views and dispenses advice and discipline in a pre-air conditioned time when the back porch was the platform for some of the most exciting talk of the day.
