Amnesty International asks you to join in a
GLOBAL DAY OF ACTION FOR TROY DAVIS
MAY 19, 7 PM
GARFIELD AND MAIN ALHAMBRA, CA
Troy Davis, a young black man, or should we say, yet another black man, on death row, this time in Atlanta. Troy Davis has been on death row for the last 15 years for murder he maintains he did not commit. His recent 30-day stay of execution is about to expire. No court has yet held a hearing on the new evidence of tainted testimony: Key witnesses state they were coerced by police into testifying against the defendant. The victim was a police officer. Another case that needs a full airing of all the evidence, before a life is taken just because of procedural rules. On May 19th, you can help make a difference by participating in an action that calls attention to the need for further hearings before a life is taken in this case. The Court extended Davis' stay of execution for 30 days to give him a chance to file a habeas corpus petition with the US Supreme Court. More information on the court's decision and case background NO PHYSICAL EVIDENCE. NO MURDER WEAPON. ANOTHER MAN IMPLICATED. NO COURT WILLING TO HEAR THE NEW EVIDENCE. EXECUTION DATE COULD BE SET SOON. Sponsored world-wide in cooperation with Amnesty International
