DESCRIPTION:

Do you know how U.S. workers won the right to organize unions to fight for social security, minimum wages and other workers rights? Yes or no, you will enjoy celebrating May Day, the international workers holiday, at a screening of Labor’s Turning Point, a riveting documentary of the 1934 Minneapolis truck drivers’ strikes. John de Graaf’s gripping film chronicles how the strikes were built and won—they broke the power of the anti-union Citizen’s Alliance and made Minneapolis a union town—by the tenacity and ingenuity of the strikers and the groundbreaking role of the strikers’ wives.
There will be plenty of time for discussion—particularly of lessons for current labor battles—so bring your thoughts and ideas.
Door donation is .00. Come early for a hearty strike kitchen dinner at 6:30 pm. for a .00 donation.
