The "Potluck for Progressives" is a group organized for the purpose of bringing together likeminded people on a weekly basis to break bread and talk about crucial issues affecting the community and the world.
At each meeting, people interested in peace, social justice, labor, and the environment gather to exchange ideas, talk about successes, plan actions, or just engage in a friendly discussion with one another.
Bring a dish to share! Enjoy the bounty that others bring as well! The potluck will start at 12:30 p.m. with a speaker or film to follow at 1:30 p.m. Please join us even if you can't bring any food!
On the Agenda:
Progressive Potluck
6:30 - 7:30 P.M.
Bring along your favorite dish of food, chips, dips, or soft drinks, and spend an hour mingling with progressive people from all over Orange County.
Featured Speakers:
7:30 - 8:30 P.M.
Paul Hershfield and Yael Korin, both members of the group, "Campaign to End Israeli Apartheid", will deliver a presentation critically examining the discriminatory laws and unequal treatment that Palestinians must endure on a daily basis while living in the State of Israel and the territories it occupies.
Under 60 years of Israeli rule, Palestinians are still treated as "second class citizens". They are routinely denied access to running water, electricity, adequate public education, good jobs, and clean housing. And they openly face discrimination at airports, train stations, and recreational areas.
To achieve justice for all in Palestine, CEIA favors, among other things, replacing the current Zionist regime in with a "single, secular, pluralistic and democratic state with laws based on citizenship, not ethnicity or religion, in the whole region of historic Palestine, with full political and civil rights for all."
Open Forum
8:30 - 9:30 P.M.
Open discussion, announcements, and other news of interest.
The "Potluck for Progressives" is endorsed by the Social Concerns Committee of the Unitarian Universalist Church in Anaheim and is free and open to the general public. Although a small donation might be requested to help pay for facility costs, nobody will be turned away due to a lack of funds.
