California Common Cause, the Center for Media Justice and the Urban and Environmental Policy Institute are presenting an informative half-day summit on local media and democracy March 21, 2009 at Occidental College. How is the media landscape changing, and how does that affect what information the public gets? How can citizens navigate this new frontier and how can activists still get their messages heard? These issues and more will be addressed by a distinguished panel of media experts that include investigative journalist and blogger Brad Friedman (www.bradblog.com); writer and activist Linda Milazzo (www.smirkingchimp.com); educator and columnist Anthony Samad (www.anthonysamad.com); and producer, media consultant and radio personality Mario Solis-Marich (www.gotomario.com). The panel will be moderated by political analyst Tanya Acker, who has appeared on CNN, FOX and MSNBC. The summit runs from 11am ? 5:30pm, March 21, 2009, with a reception to follow.
