Since the April 2008 Carpinteria school board vote to retire the use of racist stereotype imagery from Carpinteria High School, the non-Native population of Carpinteria, California has been waging a quiet little war against the local Native American people and their supporters.
Please come join the rally at Carpinteria City Hall on Tuesday, Feb 10 at 4:30pm. Wear white-t-shirts (yellow if under 17)
The local Native American people are outnumbered 10 to 1 in this little seaside town. The non-Native townspeople have terrorized the Native people for the past year without notice or comment from the press and they hope to continue their campaign of intimidation until they have their racist mascot back and the local Native people quit complaining about their mistreatment. (See http://la.indymedia.org/news/2009/02/224438.php)
Help us show them that the rest of California will not stand for this behavior! If America can elect an African-American president, how can we allow American Indians to be terrorized? Please join us to protest the mistreatment of Native people and help move past the era of racist sports mascots.
Indian Warrior, Jewish Banker, Chinese Laundry...Racism is Racism!!!
