25th Annual Wild Mushroom Fair

When: Sunday, February 8, 2009 from 10:00am until 4:00pm Where: Los Angeles Arboretum & Botanic Garden, Ayres Hall, 301 North Baldwin Avenue, Arcadia Cost: Admission to the Mushroom Fair is free, but there are charges to enter the Arboretum. Admission to the Arboretum is for adults, for seniors (62 and over), for students with ID, and .50 for children 5- 12. Children under 5 are admitted free. Arboretum members are admitted free. Among the events will be cooking demonstrations, events for children, displays of wild mushrooms, a demonstration of growing mushrooms, sales of cultivated mushrooms, educational lectures, and mushroom identification. More information about the Society and the Mushroom Fair is available on the LAMS website.
LAMS is a non-profit group whose purpose is to foster and expand the understanding and appreciation of mycology (that is the study of mushrooms and fungi). They create and sponsor fun mushroom-related events and help people learn about and identify mushrooms they find in the Los Angeles area.
Also note: LAMS has announced two mushroom forays on Saturday, February 7, to gather specimens for display at Sunday\\'s fair. Information about the forays is available on the LAMS website.
