The Chaffey Community Republican Women-Federated, a local Republican group, sent out a newsletter with this image and a caption that read: "Obama talks about all those presidents that got their names on bills. If elected, what bill would he be on????? Food Stamps, what else!"
President Diane Fedele, when questioned about the image, said that she "doesn't think in racial terms" and that it was "just food." I call it isolation via ignorance and privilege. The Press-Enterprise article also says that "She said she also wasn't trying to make a statement linking Obama and food stamps, although her introductory text to the illustration connects the two."
This from Terry: "Those responsible for the despicable racist joke will be meeting tomorrow night at the Magic Lamp on Foothill Blvd just east of Grove. My guess is they will be there around 6:30 and there are other groups who plan to let their opinions known! Make up some signs and be there!"
