We welcome everyone interested in melodic Hardcore punk music, or new to it, to come out and support this event. All of these bands are quite amazing as they hold high DIY ethics and positive principles within the Hardcore subculture. Not to mention, LA FNB is an amazing chapter, feeding well over 200 people (if not more) every Sunday in Los Angeles. Plus, the Workmen's Circle does amazing things as a progressive, Jewish community center. It just so happens that our event falls on the same month that 'Love as Activism' is on display.
The Redline Network is an Artist's Union based out of Los Angeles. It is our goal to develop a culture of respect, responsibility, and mutual aid midst radical music and arts subcultures throughout LA. It is our intention to be one of the forces attempting to unite hip-hop, punk, hardcore, electronica, folk, and so fourth in order to recognize and act on our potential as musicians to fundraise and get the word out for and about radical organizations, community spaces, campaigns, etc... throughout LA. This unity also includes other artists such as photographers, zine publishers, painters, graphers, etc...
Eventually we plan to start an LA-based radical magazine for the Arts, as well as the opening of an All-Ages DIY venue for music, workshops/symposiums, conferences, and more. This is the reason why we are fundraising for the Redline. Once we have a space like this, we will be able to endlessly fundraise for other groups out there doing grassroots work in/for their neighborhoods/communities.
Redline hopes to be an arm, amidst many, in the Social Revolutionary movement. As we understand Social Revolution to be a process that involves all people, our activities today cannot be limited to one subculture claiming it has the answers. Our solidarity beyond style and genre is super important in these times. Let us celebrate resistance through the arts.
