Press Conference: Free the Black Riders Liberation Party Members and Drop the Gang Enhancement Charges! Los Angeles, CA ? Leimert Park. March 2nd, 2008
Community Organizations are gathering to hold a rally and a press conference to bring to light the struggle of the Black Riders Liberation Party who have been wrongfully imprisoned and being charged with trumped-up charges. Black Riders member General TACO, Aryanna, and Stress were arrested near Oakland and the Crenshaw District of Los Angeles for the charge of "Conspiracy to Buy and Sell Illegal weapons." The bail for them is set from 500,000 to 1,000,000 dollars. The addition of the gang enhancement is an attempt to destroy the character of a revolutionary all Black community organization by the police and the courts.
Lala from the Black Riders says, "The Black Riders are a new Black Panther Party formation, and have been subject to repression since their inception over 10 years ago." They do community programs like the "Watch a Pig" program which observes the police while they harass, intimidate, and terrorize Black and Brown communities. Recently they've built an alliance with Cop Watch Los Angeles GC and the Revolutionary Autonomous Communities to Stop Police Brutality, Feed Healthy Food to our Communities through a Free Food Program, and Build unity amongst Black and Brown People in particular and all oppressed people in general.
There will be a press conference held to educate our communities around this case and to build support for the members of the Black Riders Liberation Party so we can stop the attack against people who are fighting to change the conditions in our communities. This is nothing new. Anybody who has stood up and fought to end oppression has been a target by the system, and has been killed off, put in prison as political prisoners and prisoners of war, and has been made out to be a gangster or an enemy of the people.
Through the press conference we want to continue to build Black and Brown unity - unity amongst all oppressed people, we want to demand an end to gang injunctions/attacks on youth, and we want to put an end to police state repression and state violence in general.
Where: Leimert Park, in Los Angeles, California When: Tuesday, March 4th at 12 Noon Contact: Lala (323)873-8016
