Los Angeles premier of Cuban-made documentary about the case of the Cuban Five. Award-winning actor Danny Glover ("Dreamgirls") will introduce the film and discuss the case of the Five. Glover is also the narrator of "The Trial."
The Cuban Five are five men who came to the U.S. to monitor right-wing, anti-Cuban terrorists operating out of Miami. The terrorists are directed and funded by the U.S. government; they have killed nearly 3,500 innocent Cubans. After a kangaroo trial in Miami, the Five were unjustly convicted and sentenced. This festival-winning Cuban film explores the Five?s unfair U.S. trial. (Dir. Rolando Almirante, 2007)
Initiated by National Committee to Free the Cuban Five. Sponsors include Martin Sheen ("The West Wing"), Danny Glover, Office of the Americas, National Lawyers Guild and the ANSWER Coalition.
