ANSWER will commemorate the two-year anniversary of the Hurricane Katrina disaster and the movement to win people's rights in its aftermath. We'll watch two films on post-Katrina New Orleans, hear a talk about the city and region today, and have plenty of political discussion.
Films include Los Angeles premier of "Welcome to New Orleans," featuring former Black Panther and co-founder of Common Ground Collective, Malik Rahim.
"Heroes, Not Looters: Eyewitness New Orleans," chronicles the days after Katrina, featuring footage of the survivors in New Orleans and at the Astrodome in Houston. It shows the courage displayed by dispossessed people in the face of government racism and criminal neglect.
We'll also hear an update on September 15 March on Washington and October 27 anti-war protest in Los Angeles.
