The San Francisco Eight are Black Panthers who have recently been arrested for an alleged crime dating from 1970. Several of these Panthers were tortured previously. They have resisted the grand jury. They are currently facing a trial on charges for an alleged crime from 1970.
The United People of Color Caucus (TUPOCC) and the Next Generation Committee of the LA National Lawyers Guild are sponsoring this program to inform the Los Angeles community about these political prisoners.
There will be two attorneys (Kwaku Duren and Carol Smith) speaking about the government persecution of the Black Panthers, in addition, a family member of one of the prisoners has been invited to speak as well.
We will also be showing the video LEGACY OF TORTURE, documenting the story of several of the SF 8.
Please join us for this important program on human rights, political prisoners within the United States.
