Author, playwright, and activist Diane Lefer reads from and discusses her latest book, California Transit, which was awarded the Mary McCarthy Prize for Short Fiction. Join the conversation and have some wine and cheese. Lefer is also known for "Nightwind," her stage collaboration with Hector Aristizabal about his arrest and torture by the US-supported military in Colombia. About California Transit, the San Francisco Chronicle wrote: "Lefer's characters...are Californians obsessed with social and economic injustice, the welfare of animals, the politics of the body and the Kafkaesque horrors of immigration law....Lefer's book certainly deserves attention."
