The Bush Administration has spent four years trying to win Iraq's oil. They are now poised for success with the near passage in Iraq of a new national oil law crafted by the U.S. and being pushed by the U.S. government. The Congress is about to pass a supplemental war spending bill that requires the Iraqis to pass this oil law. It's called the "oil benchmark" and it amounts to the stealing of Iraq's oil by U.S. oil corporations. It is the reason why the war continues.
Coming to Laguna Beach and Irvine, May 22 and 23....
Antonia Juhasz, author of The Bu$h Agenda: Invading the World, One Economy at a Time (HarperCollins Publishers), now out in paperback, updated with a new afterword. http://www.TheBushAgenda.net
"The Bush Agenda is a gut-wrenching account of precisely who sold us this war in Iraq and who has cashed in from the ensuing tragedy. Refreshingly, it doesn't leave us merely cursing the corporate profiteers?it points the way to a people-oriented agenda that would leave the neocons and corporate looters in the dustbin of history. Read it and take action!" --Medea Benjamin, Cofounder, Global Exchange and CODEPINK:Women for Peace

The Organizer newspaper of India describes The Bu$h Agenda as, "A meticulous expose of corporate America's intentions in the Gulf."
Amy Goodman, host of Democracy Now! says, "...in this excellent book [Juhasz] breaks down complex issues, exposes back room deals, and gives readers the information they need to speak truth to power."
The Ecologist Magazine of London calls the book, "Spine tingling," and Greg Palast, bestselling author of Armed Madhouse, gives it a heartfelt, "Bravo!"
I have spent the last year since the publication of The Bu$h Agenda traveling across the United States from Fairbanks, AK to Falls Church, VA, and to cities abroad, meeting with audiences large and small, activists and activists-to-be, elected officials, and the media.
Some of the best feedback I repeatedly receive is that while at this point we all know the myriad reasons why the Bush administration did NOT invade Iraq, The Bu$h Agenda remains unique in offering concrete, quotable, and easily understandable evidence as to why the Bush administration DID invade Iraq, why it refuses to leave, where it and its cohorts hope to go next, and - maybe most importantly - what we can do to stop them.
Readers deeply appreciate that this is not only a scholarly analysis of war, imperialism, and corporate globalization, but also an activist book from start to finish.
I have continued my work exposing the corporate "free trade" agenda behind the war, the battle for the new Iraq oil law, and the full breadth of the imperial agenda of this administration and those seeking to replace it.
In the new afterword, I provide the latest in-depth information on the status of U.S. corporations that have and continue to operate in Iraq and their pursuit of the U.S.-Middle East Free Trade Area, the Iraq oil law and the broader oil agenda of U.S. oil companies and the administration, the role of the newly elected Democratic majority in the House and Senate, and the peace and global justice movements.
Please pass this e-mail along to friends and colleagues.
Sincerely, Antonia Juhasz http://www.TheBushAgenda.net
More commentary on The Bu$h Agenda:
"This is an infuriating book. It infuriates the way truth does when you get a cold splash of it and you learn how you've been taken. This is also a hopeful book. How the author manages this alchemy of outrage and uplift requires close attention and willingness to learn. Ms. Juhasz names names and doesn't pull her punches. She has done her homework, filled in the gaps. She argues her case like a lawyer, and I'm glad she's on our side." -- Gary Corseri, www.dissidentvoice.org
"Lucid, fact-filled and nonrhetorical." - The North Bay Bohemian
"Juhasz took the reporter's classic maxim to heart and followed the money to deliver one of the crispest, most insightful books yet to expose the Bush regime? In these difficult times, it's encouraging that The Bush Agenda concludes with stubborn optimism about prospects for political progress in the United States." --The Georgia Straight, Canada
"The Bush Agenda is essential reading for anyone bewildered by the president's reckless pursuit of foreign policies so harmful to the values, the economic interest, and the security of the American people. Juhasz lucidly lays out the reasons, combining solid analysis and data with vivid, if infuriating, illustrations of where the Bush Agenda's adherents want to take our country." --Congressman John Conyers, Jr.
"The most appealing thing about is not just its readability, nor its striking insights, but its relevance to the interrelated campaigns against the WTO, globalization and multinational capitalism." ? Red Pepper Magazine, London.
"?kudos to Antonia Juhasz, she has written a superb book, a "must read" if you will. It is well organized, focused, well researched, and culls the essentials of highly technical economic analysis and renders them accessible to a more general?readership, precisely what is needed today? A solid piece of academic scholarship, informed by a keen sense of what is essential and driven by a grand passion for justice" - Russel Branca, Book/Mark Quarterly Review
"The Bush Agenda is a devastating indictment of the collusion between government and big business that has turned the United States?once-respected as Savior of Democracy?into a feared and hated empire. Packed with facts and insider stories, it is a resounding call to action." --John Perkins, author of Confessions of an Economic Hit Man
"The Bush Agenda lays out the 'noble cause' for which George Bush asked our sons and daughters to give their lives: to open Iraq to US corporate control. All potential military recruits should read this book and then decide if Halliburton and Chevron are worth fighting for." --Cindy Sheehan, peace mom --Medea Benjamin, Cofounder, Global Exchange and CODEPINK:Women for Peace
