Diane Lefer reads and discusses work from her new book, California Transit, which was awarded the Mary McCarthy Prize in Short Fiction.
Reviewing the book, the San Francisco Chronicle wrote: \\"Lefer\\'s characters...are Californians obsessed with social and economic justice, the welfare of animals, the politics of the body and the Kafkaesque horrors of immigration law.\\"
Lefer is the local activist who collaborated with Hector Aristizabal in the development of the play \\"Nightwind,\\" about his arrest and torture by the US-supported military in Colombia.
