Popular Assembly The earth charter
The first community dialogue on:
1. The global warming and the ecological destruction 2. The rights of immigrant workforce 3. Affordable and ecological housing
We live through very difficult times, the most threatened elements of creation are: our mother land and the poor. This is manifested in the global warming which is a form of violent destruction of the environment by the large corporations and industries who have set no limits to their zeal for consumption, avarice and greed. The excessive exploitation of the natural resources and the workforce, the wars and racial violence go hand in hand in dealing with human beings, not as they are, but as meat for the war, as cheap labor that can be thrown aside at any moment, as can be seen in the war in Iraq and Afganistan, and the campaign against undocumented laborers and their families.
The principles of the earth charter:
1. Respect Earth and life in all its diversity. 2. Care for the community of life with understanding, compassion, and love. 3. Build democratic societies that are just, participatory, sustainable, and peaceful. 4. Secure Earth's bounty and beauty for present and future generations.
