The Mexican government has a long history of ommiting the voices of its internal indigenous population. One example is the genocide of the Cucapá, who have been denied fishing permits, eventhough they have been fishing in this valley for over 9,000 years.
Chuco's Justice Center is also a donation drop off spot, for the encampment in Mexicalli.

Cop Watch LA: Cucapa Solidarity Statement
Cop Watch LA stands in solidarity with the Cucapa people of Mexicali, Mexico in their efforts to maintain self-determination and autonomy from foreign governments. Attacks upon the Cucapa by Federal and Local governments, including: forced relocations; the theft of resources; and the criminalization of an entire people; are a direct result of imperialist, colonialist, and white supremacist terror campaigns waged upon Indigenous Peoples in the Western Hemisphere since 1492. We denounce the violent attempts to impose a foreign government on a people who have practiced their way of life, on their land, for over 9,000 years. We demand that soldiers, the navy, and PROFEPA retreat from this recent terror campaign and end the stealing of natural resources, culture and way of life. CWLA supports any efforts taken by the Cucapa to defend themselves as a people and to end this form of slavery and genocide. We acknowledge our common enemy on both sides of the border and advocate organizing in our own communities and struggling alongside the Cucapa and the people of Mexico.
