Thirty-four years ago, on September 21, 1972 Dictator Marcos declared martial in the Philippines and plunged the country into 14 years of evil darkness.
More than 80,000 people perished,3,000 activist "missing" and more than 300,000 people arrested or jail for a time. Marcos declared martial law to protect US economic and political interests. The Philippines was an important US base for the war in Vietnam, thus US supported Marcos' martial law and "love its adherence to democracy"
Now --the US-Arroyo is in the processes of legalizing martial law with the anti-terrorism bill (ATB) and the bloody campaign of political killings. A Marcosian reign of terror is place! More than 750 activists were killed, 180 missing and the counter insurgency war is in progress in Mindanao and other parts of the Philippines.
In response to the call of the International League for Peoples Struggle (ILPS) to hold international days of global action on September 21.the AJLPP organizations who are also founding organizations of ILPS like Pesante-USA, KmB (Pro People Youth), Ecumenical Fellowship for Justice and Peace, Justice for Filipino Veterans (JFAV) and other organizations in the United States, initiated various activities and other forms of mass actions from September 21-23 in New York, Seattle, San Francisco and Los Angeles.
