Bill Rosendahl will moderate a panel discussion between Repreentatives of several political parties and the Registrar Recorder's office, LB Vice Mayor Dan Baker, Jim Clarke of the Clean Money Campaign, and hopefully Southwest Voter Registration Project and Norm Ryan- the Long Beach mayoral candidate that was a write-in with former mayor Beverly Oneil. Our ballot showed one candidate only, and Beverly won. If only we'd had IRV in April. There will be panel discussions and workshops on Instant Runoff Voting, Proportional Representation, Election Day Registration, Public Financing of Campigns and term limits. Other issues include voter apathy, barriers to 3rd parties, spiraling costs of campaigns & ensuing influence of money in politics, grassroots democracy & political involvement.
There is much parking, near the Blue Line and the building and bathrooms are accessable to the handicapped. Admission, workshops and refreshments are all free.
