Party for Socialism and Liberation Special Event A Celebration of International Workers' Day
Friday, May 5, 7:30 pm 1800 Argyle Ave, #400, Los Angeles
Join the Party for Socialism and Liberation this Friday for a branch meeting where we'll evaluate the massive May 1 Boycott for immigrant rights, hear about May Day actions throughout the world and discuss the role of the working class as an agent of revolutionary change. There will be political discussion, food, music, a short film and more.
* May 1 Boycott Roundup & What's Next: On May 1, millions of immigrants and supporters participated in a boycott and day of action for immigrant rights. In Los Angeles alone, over 1 million people demonstrated. Hear an evaluation of these actions from a socialist perspective and discuss what's next in the movement. There will also be a short film about the May 1 boycott.
* May Day Around the World: In countries all over the world, workers celebrate May Day. From Cuba to Namibia, Vietnam to Syria, demonstrations and celebrations occurred. Hear about what happened across the world on May 1 and join the workers' celebration at this meeting.
* Revolutionary Role of the Working Class: The working class is the most important class in this society. The capitalists are extremely aware of the power of the working class, but many workers in the U.S. are not. Marxism teaches that if the working class becomes conscious of its position, then it can impose its will over the capitalists. Hear about the role of the working class in the U.S. and what revolutionaries can do to build unity and class consciousness in the struggle for a better world.
Plus revolutionary music from the history of the U.S. working class.
