PSL Friday Branch Meeting May 1 Boycott, Capitalism and the Environment
Friday, April 28, 7:30 pm 1800 Argyle Ave, #400, Los Angeles
Join the Party for Socialism and Liberation this Friday for a branch meeting where we'll discuss updates on the May 1 Boycott for immigrant rights, a socialist perspective on the environment and a history of May Day.
* May 1 Boycott Update: On May 1, immigrants and supporters, including the Party for Socialism and Liberation, will participate in a national boycott for immigrant rights. The word is out and hundreds of thousands will participate all over the nation. Find out what political forces support the boycott and why some oppose it. Learn about the PSL's boycott plans in LA and how you can get involved.
* Capitalism and the Environment: The world is facing an environmental crisis that is mounting day by day - global warming and climate change; deforestation and the destruction of carbon dioxide-absorbing tropical forests; the weakening of the ozone layer; acid rain and more. All of these environmental disasters are caused by capitalism. Discuss a socialist perspective on the environment and how to make lasting change.
* A History of May Day: May 1 is International Workers Day, a day of celebration about workers' struggles and victories. May Day traces its origins to the U.S. working class and has been adopted in socialist countries and around the world as a holiday for workers. Hear about the real history of May Day and how to carry its legacy forward in struggle.
Plus update on important developments in the people's uprising in Nepal.
