Join Other Immigrant Rights Advocates For a Special Peaceful Non-Violent Protest outside of Costa mesa city councl person Gary Monahan's restaurant this St. Patrick's Day.
Here is the background:
Costa Mesa City Council member Gary Monahan profits from immigrants who cook and wash dishes for his restaurant clients. Because of immigrants, Monahan has a better life. But as an elected official, Monahan has voted to enact policies that attack the immigrants whose work maintains his business and much of the Costa Mesa/Orange County economy.
Along with other members of the Costa Mesa Minuteman Junta, including Minuteman Mayor Allan Mansoor and Eric Bever, Monahan voted to:
Appoint a Neo-Nazi to a citizens’ committee that makes recommendations on social and economic issues that affect immigrants
Dissolve the Human Relations Committee that helped reduce racism and discrimination in Costa Mesa
Close the Day Labor Center to discourage immigrants in Costa Mesa from finding work to feed their families
Use Costa Mesa police officers to deport undocumented immigrants, which is creating terror in the community, damaging local business and will divert resources away from community policing and increase crime at great taxpayer’s expense.
Our immediate goals are to reopen the day labor center and stop the ICE proposal.
This event is sponsored by the Colectivo Tonantzin, which stands for equal rights for immigrants and all people. If you share our concerns, please join us. And bring your signs, musical intruments, noise makers, etc.
