Subject: ALERT: Baby seals will be killed - protest at Red Lobster!
January 9, 2006 Protest Canada's Seal Hunt at Red Lobster!
The seals need your help. In 2005, members of Canada's fishing community killed over 300,000 seals, the vast majority babies under three months of age. Unfortunately, plans are under way for another hunt in 2006. The seals are clubbed or shot, but don't necessarily die quickly. A veterinary report in 2001 estimated that of the seal cases studied during one hunt, more than 40% of the animals were skinned alive. This, the largest commercial slaughter of marine mammals anywhere, will continue unless we can persuade Canada to stop it.
Please help us protest this needless suffering. Many restaurants and stores have joined our boycott of Canadian seafood, but to date Red Lobster, the world's largest seafood chain, has not. Thousands of people have demonstrated near Red Lobster restaurants, and you can be part of this groundswell.
Date: Saturday, January 14, 2006
Time: 6 to 8 p.m. Location: Red Lobster, 928 W. Huntington Avenue, Monrovia, CA 91016 Contact: Kate at mysticat320@msn.com
It's easy. All you have to do is show up and hold a sign, or pass out flyers. In the process, you'll take a public stand against the fur trade, meet other seal advocates, make new friends, and, most importantly, help end Canada's seal slaughter.
Thank you for taking action on behalf of the seals!
