A one-day-only book sale in South Los Angeles will provide access to thousands of low-cost used and new books and pamphlets that are unavailable or hard to find in most superstore chains. Books will be available on such key topics as political theory, socialism, ethnic studies, and history, as well as children’s books. The book sale will take place Saturday, November 12, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Southern California Library, 6120 S. Vermont Avenue, Los Angeles (between Slauson and Gage). This event is part of regularly offered book sales by the Library, which continue to be important in light of converging trends in book publishing and bookselling that have starkly reduced the diversity of books available to readers. The event is free and open to the public; families and children welcome. Refreshments will be offered. For more information, go to www.socallib.org or call (323) 759-6063.
