The Russian-American Business and Arts Council is a proud co-sponsor of the Red Shift Film Festival
This special event will be the culmination of Red Shift's three-year project to gather and chronicle distinguished works from Post-Soviet filmmakers working outside of their former homeland. The retrospective will include short films by emerging and established provocateurs, documentaries by world-renowned researchers and a kaleidoscope of avant-garde animation from around the globe.
Among the highlights of the Festival is the unique screening of the documentary by Alexander Gentelev "Oligarchs". This will be an extraordinary opportunity for Los Angeles filmgoers to view this powerful film on the vagaries of today's Russia. The 2004 Israeli made documentary captures the six moguls, including, Berezovsky and Gusinsky, who have shaped and dominated modern Post-Soviet Russia. Oligarchs uses exclusive footage and interviews following the Oligarchs in their meetings, in their homes and all over the world. The documentary, which took six years to film beginning in 1996, examines the bankers as they were referred to through Russia, England, Israel and the United States.
