Battle of Algiers
This 1966 film, considered one of the greatest of all time, takes place during the Algerian struggle to win independence from France. Its depiction of the insurgency is so eerily similar to Iraq today, that Pentagon officials screened it for special operations troops in August of 2003. If you haven't seen Gillo Pontecorvo's Battle of Algiers on a large screen, then come to the IAC on Friday. Hear an introduction to the film by Rudy Pisani, an Algerian-born activist who is well known in the Los Angeles progressive movement.
Also; a brief organizing report on a new IAC Campaign of anti-war/social justice organizing and outreach.
