UNITARIAN UNIVERSALIST CHURCH TO SCREEN ?THE CORPORATION? ON JUNE 25
Orange Coast Unitarian Universalist Church will host a free screening of ?The Corporation," on Saturday, June 25 starting at 5:30 p.m. The church is located at 1259 Victoria St. in Costa Mesa. Admission is free to the public and ample parking is available at the church facility.
?The Corporation,? a documentary by Mark Achbar, Jennifer Abbott and Joel Bakan, is based on the book entitled The Corporation: The Pathological Pursuit of Profit and Power by Bakan. The film has won 24 international awards, including the audience award for documentary in world cinema at the 2004 Sundance Film festival.
According to www.thecorporation.com, the film explores the nature and spectacular rise of the dominant institution of our time. Footage from pop culture, advertising, TV news and corporate propaganda illuminate the corporation?s grip on our lives. Taking its legal status as a ?person? to its logical conclusion, the film puts the corporation on the psychiatrist?s couch to ask ?What kind of person is it??
