Jackie Goldberg, a progressive CA assemblywoman, is coming to speak at Los Angeles City College, (conveniently located off the Metro redline vermont/santa monica stop, and also by rapid buses 754, and local 4, 204, DASH, and 10 and 11) about education and budget issues. She will be fielding questions from the audience and this would be a great opportunity to come meet her. This woman has pushed hard for lots of leftist causes, such as her current campaign to end Native Americans being exploited for football team mascots. she also drafted the domestic partner legislation that grants gays and lesbians in CA many of the rights offered in marriage (she herself is gay.) She has helped pass a living wage ordinance in Los Angeles which guarantees a living wage for all city workers. Anywho, it should be a really fun event, its only an hour and half out of your day to see a local politician come talk to the people. Email for more info/flyer.
