You are invited to participate in a town hall meeting on healthcare and coverage for transgender people sponsored by the offices of Assemblymembers Jackie Goldberg, Paul Koretz, Mark Leno, and Senator Sheila Kuehl.
This unique opportunity has been created to bring attention to the specific difficulties that transgender communities face in fully accessing comprehensive and competent health care.
Community members and allies will present state and local elected and appointed officials with information on:
*anti-transgender bias among some health care professionals; *a lack of basic information concerning transgender health care even among many well meaning professionals; *health insurance plans that explicitly exclude coverage for transition related health care; *health insurers who deny applications for policies based on the applicants history of receiving transition related medical care; and, *the many ways that state and local governments can partner with the community to address these concerns.
Your attendance and participation is needed to make this landmark event a success.
Please join state and local officials for this important hearing on Friday, February 4th at the Village at Ed Gould Plaza, 1125 N. McCadden Place, Los Angeles, CA 90038 (one block east of Highland, just north of Santa Monica Boulevard) from 6-8 p.m. A reception will follow.
