FILMS FOR PEACE presents:

"Beyond the Mirage: The Face of the Occupation"

Human rights organization "B'Tselem in Israel"

focuses on one of the most critical of human tragedies.

The film provides a tour of the Palestinian occupied territories, under Israeli rule for 30 years.

Too often the conflict between Israelis and Palestinians is presented in black and white terms. This in itself is a form of injustice. 'Beyond the Mirage: The Face of the Occupation' is an opportunity to hear from people who actually live in the region. It goes beyond the image, beyond what we get from our media.

FRIDAY, Jan 21, 7:00 PM, at VELOCITY CAFE,

2127 Lincoln Blvd, at Pacific St. in Santa Monica.

(Three blocks south of Pico Blvd.)

Velocity serves organic coffee, healthy wraps,

baked goods, and popcorn. Come early and have a bite to eat!

Israeli-born activist, Yael Korin, will co-lead the

discussion afterwards. She works as a scientist at UCLA. Co-founder of Women in Black - LA, Dr. Korin believes in full and equal political/social

human rights as a basis for justice and coexistence in the Middle East.

Her friend, Haithem El-Zabri, is a Palestinian-American activist, whose family is from Jenin. He believes that a better understanding of Middle East issues among the American public is a first step towards world peace. He is a board member of Women in Black - LA, and a free-lance web designer, working mostly on websites about Palestine.

Seating is "first come, first served."
