The Yoshida Brothers play the age-old Tsugaru-shamisen -- an instrument akin to a rustic three-stringed banjo -- with the fervor of Jimi Hendrix, while incorporating jazz-like improvisation, pop-rock sensibilities, and disparate global music idioms into their virtuoso shamisen mastery.
