Million Worker March: Labor Has Its Own Voice
Featured Speaker: CLARENCE THOMAS, executive director ILWU Local 10
Date: Friday, August 13 Time: 7:30 pm (7 pm dinner) Place: 5274 W. Pico Blvd. Suite 203 (5 Blocks West of La Brea)
The International Action Center is honored to host Clarence Thomas, former secretary-treasurer and executive director of the International Longshore and Warehouse Union Local 10 in San Francisco and initiator of the Million Worker March. This march is galvanizing the labor movement to speak out in its own voice - independantly of the Democratic or Republican parties, including the demand ?Jobs Not War? and an end to the occupation and war on Iraq.
Thomas and the ILWU Local 10 have a history of militant and principled actions supporting the anti-apartheid struggle, political prisoner Mumia Abu-Jamal and the movement to stop the war in Iraq.
Hear Thomas speak about: * Workers needs here versus war on workers in Iraq * Democrats or Republicans: Are they for Labor? * What will a Million Worker March do for the Labor and anti-war movement?
