FMC112 - DIRECTING - Advanced Performance: Good communication between actor and director can mean the difference between a great film and a missed opportunity. A crucial yet often overlooked element of film production is effective interaction with actors and understanding the requirements of performance.

WHAT IT IS: A one-day intensive course on completely understanding the actors world from script breakdown to performance. The goal is to explore the process and your creative abilities to direct a convincing performance incorporating imaginative use of the camera. This class will challenge your abilities to motivate and inspire your actors. This course is designed as a companion to the Director's Crash Course, held the preceding day.

WHAT YOU'LL LEARN: You'll learn exactly what you need to say and do to get what you want and need from your actors in front of the camera.

TOPICS INCLUDE:

*How to motivate and coach performance from actors.

*Actors language.

*Helping actors develop characterization.

*What to look for when casting.

*When to stay out of the way.

*What not to say.

*Keeping performances alive, take after take.

*Breaking down a script from the actors viewpoint.
