"CROSSES ON THE BEACH" IN SANTA MONICA, until troops come home
WHEN: Every Sunday, all day,
volunteers needed for set up 7:30-9:30am and take down 6:30-7:30pm WHERE: Santa Monica Pier (North Side)
Veterans for Peace need a lot of help to put up over 850 crosses.
Volunteers needed to set up and take down this memorial --1 cross for every fallen American soldier--at the Santa Monica Pier every Sunday. Iraqui casualities are also noted and honored.
There will be a reading of the fallen soldiers names every hour starting at 10am on July 4th. Special guest speakers include Green Party Mayor Pro Tem of Santa Monica, Kevin McKeown.
This powerful memorial helps to make the thousands of visitors to the pier aware of the human costs of the war and occupation of Iraq.
It takes about two hours to set up in the morning and one hour to take down near sunset. Veterans for Peace plans to continue this display every Sunday until the troops come home.
