The next meeting of the LA Food Justice Network is Wednesday Sept. 25 from 9 am to 11 am at Legal Aid Foundation, 1102 S. Crenshaw (that's on Crenshaw between Olympic and Pico). RSVP is not required, but it helps us know how many bagels to bring. Riding on the victory we shared in concerning soda sales in the school district, we've invited members of Jan Perry's staff to discuss her initiative on surveying the number of fast food restaurants in certain areas of town. Also invited are members of the Immigrant Workers Union who've been laid off at Assi Supermarket to discuss that ongoing campaign.
Please bring us your updates and concerns as well. We'll also be updating the next steps on the soda ban at LA Unified, the progress made on our commitment to educate the community about electronic benefits transfer for food stamps, and the proposed ban of charitable food-giving in Santa Monica. Thanks to all of you who made the first meeting a success! You can RSVP to Frank at 213 439 1070 ext. 115.
